BLOOD FEAST 1997 Air date: April 1997 50 min. This is the only remake I have ever done and I had a blast making it. I forget why I wanted to remake Herschell Gordon Lewis' 1963 film Blood Feast. I was a big fan of the film back when I first saw it in the late 80's. I even wrote a sequel to his other film 2000 Maniacs (and no it wasn't called 2001 Maniacs, my story never saw the light of day for the public eye). I actually came across the famous Suez Motel with Sphinx's head in the front. This is where Lewis shot some of the scenes from the movie. I went back there one day on my spring break vacation and recorded some shots of the Sphinx which I later used in the opening credits. For those of you that haven't seen the original it's about a madman who worships the goddess Ishtar and sacrifices young women to the great goddess. We had a great cast for this one. Eric Hilddebrand did an awesome job as Fuad Ramses the killer. Even walked with a limp just like in the original. This was one of the most popular episodes of the series and the longest which is almost an epic compared the length of the others. It had great special effects that were done by Matt Wolin and had a cool heavy metal soundtrack featuring Marilyn Manson, Coven, White Zombie, and others.
