Imagine someone or something takes your idenity, along with your memories and emotions. That's what happens to a nurse, Cathy, who comes into contact with a strange being at a hospital. The being takes her place and even has her sister, Sara fooled. One man tries to hunt down the creature before it kills again, but it takes the role of several other victims, but continues to change back into Cathy, it's first victim, where it's confused on whether or not it's the nurse or some strange being that absorbs people of their life cause it has none of its own.
'Chameleon' , Chris Woods' first movie, is a cross between horror and sci-fi. This stylish pick will scare the hell out of you. Made in early 1998, Woods made the movie in his senior year after finishing up with his 'Creeping Death' series. The picture is different from the Red Freak series. There's no camp or cheese in this one. Woods wrote the script in the fall of '97 about an unknown creature that has to feed off people to survive. The movie reflects the way people in society suck the life out of one another in many different ways. And also the way people may want to be someone else just to be popular and how people have many different sides to them. The lead character, Cathy or The Chameleon has the thoughts of the nurse but knows it's something not human. She tries to control herself but goes on a rampage at a college campus. Davis, who seems to be the one who is responsible for letting The Chameleon out, finally catches up with it as it chases it's sister, Sara out of her apartment, when Cathy asked Sara to lock her up and what ever she hears don't let her out......she doesn't listen.
Cham screams
When 'Chameleon' started to shoot in February '98. The cast inculed some 'Creeping Death' vets such as Luis Matos, who was the devil in 'Night Time' and directed 'You're Dead' plays one of The Chameleon's victims, a bum. Matos also assitant directs and does the lighting. And Eli Leaberry, who is 'Creeping Death's' scream queen and Madame Eve has a small part in the picture as another victim. You can't miss her scream. But for the lead characters, Woods got some actors from an acting studio in Tampa. The main three, Deborah Thomas, who plays Cathy gives an excellent performance. Jennifer Shumaker, who plays Cathy's sister Sara is wonderful in the role as well. And Louis Iacieviel gives a great performance as Davis who stalks down The Chameleon. Also from the acting studio, Helaine Cira who plays Rachel, a victim of The Chameleon and Robert Apperson, who plays three characters, The Doctor, The Boss of Davis, and The Chameleon before it absorbs Cathy.

The highlights of this movie are, the opening of Chameleon as the creature is rushed to the hospital and has flashbacks, sets the tone of the picture. The creeping scene as the bum is stalked by The Chameleon and the bum's comic relief. The chemistry of Cathy and Sara. The chase scene as Rachel runs through a school being pursued by the being. And the shocking climax of the movie. Also an excellent soundtrack by Zach Bressler.

After Chameleon was completed in 1998 it received many awards in the past two years such as The Protovin Prize at The University of Tampa, The Southern Sunshine Video Award for Entertainment, and an honorable mention award from The Hometown Video Festival. Chameleon has also appear on local cable in 1999 in Tampa.

'Chameleon' was released to the home video market. Woods made a deal with Department 13 in late 2000. But now the video is unavailable at this time but will soon be available on DVD through Icon Film Studios. We will keep you posted.
